Little Stool Makeover

When we bought our house 4 years back, we also inherited a little wooden yellow stool.
Let's face it, when you're short like me, you can use any help you can get! .. So I decided to keep this little eye sore..
I have just gotten around to getting the idea of redoing it so I can just use it as decor as well as a helpful boost to my height.

Here is the before picture::

Here is a 'during' picture::

Here are some pictures of it all complete::

Steps:
1.) I sanded the top completely and the side.

2.)  Lightly sand the underside of the stool and the legs as best I could.

3.)  I stained the top and side with MinWax Dark Walnut Stain.

4.)  After that dried a bit, I flipped the stool over and gave it 2 coats of ASCP in Old White (I chose to use chalk paint because I didn't have any primer on hand & with chalk paint you do not need to sand or prime or do any kind of prep work... My kinda DIY!)

5.)  Poly'd the stain.

6.)  Lightly sanded and then used Annie Sloan Clear Wax on the underside and legs.

Antique Rocking Horse

About a year ago my husband's grandparents had given us this antique rocking horse.
I love it, however it needed some major updating.. the yarn hair was yucky, it was all marked up, and the little sticker embellishment had to leave! ... :)
I FINALLY have gotten around to re*sanding this baby and re*staining.
After re-staining it like 5 times, I gave up on the whole wooden look.
The stain was just not cooperating!!.. It was so uneven I was getting so frustrated!
So I took a trip to JoAnn's and bought some primer with a 40% off coupon.
and scored 2 Rustoleum 'Summer Squash' spray cans for (you ready for this?!...) $1.97!!
I was happier than a kid in a candy store.
Afterwards, I applied 2 coats of poly.

Anyways.. Here are some BEFORE PICTURES.. & AFTER PICTURES
:::

HERE ARE THE AFTER PICTURES
::::
I just used all the original hardware.
I also used the same eyeballs and didn't do anything to the handle.
& crochet'd a whole new mane and tail.
I made a loop in the mane so the handle wouldn't be covered with it.
The tail was crochet'd using a curlicue scarf tutorial.
They were then applied with a hot glue gun.
::::
Jayden is the name of my first born so I painted on his name on one side of the horse.
Jensen is going to be the name of this July baby whether it's a boy or a girl so I painted that name on the other side of the horse!

What do you think!?

DIY Simple Boxwood Wreath

This is such a SIMPLE  &  EASY wreath!
{time consuming, but worth it}

IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE, KEEP READING! :)
*
*
*
What you will need for this project is:

- Embroidery Hoop
- Box wood greenery
- Light gauge jewelry wire

1.) First start by removing the boxwood from the stems so you have just a whole bunch of pieces.

2.)  Take each piece one by one and start by putting each of them between the hoop circles (?? Don't know if I'm explaining this right.. ) Making sure NOT to have the loop too loose or they won't stay put.

3.)  Once you have your loop full to the point where it will not hold any more boxwood.

4.)  You don't really need to add any to the inside walls of the wreath, because you cannot really see the hoop, but I added some the way around it on the outside.

5.)  First I wired a couple pieces to the hoop where the tightening screw is to hide it from showing.
I took one long piece of wire and strung together some leftover pieces and wrapped it around the hoop and tied the ends together.

6.) VOILA! .. Now it's ready to hang :)
{The above pictures are not my own}

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FINISHED PICTURES::

Have a great day!

DIY Herringbone Canvas Art

Tawk of the day:
"To pray is to let go and let God take over."
    Philippians 4:6-7

I had this piece of canvas art I got for a $1.00 at Gabriel Brothers a while back.
I decided I didn't like the picture that was already on it, so I was trying to come up with some ways to use it as a DIY project...
I thought about using it to transfer a photo onto like you see all over pinterest, but I didn't want to end up with a 'Pintrosity' so I decided not to do that one.. lol

First, I ran the canvas under water until eventually the paint from the picture came off (as you can see in the second picture.)

I searched all over pinterest of what I could do with it..
In comes the herringbone print.  I found a whole bunch of them on Pinterest, but the one that really caught my eye wasn't actually a DIY... It was an actual print that you could purchase from a website.  My computer wont let me download the picture so sorry about that..

First I got out some paint colors that would go perfectly in my master bedroom:
-gray
-yellow
-gold
-dark green
-& a muted greenish color

After painting in different strokes and whatnot until I got the desired look.. this is what I was left with!

First I tried using 'froggy tape' to use, but the tape just was not cooperating with me! ..
I then decided to use electrical tape.. (it stuck so well to canvas!)
I cut the tape in 4 inch strips.
I started from one corner and just worked from there, sticking the tape in a herringbone design..
I just kind of eyeballed the spaces between the tape and it came together really well!
When I was done, I took some strips off to give it more of a unique look.
I then spray painted over it with white.

Now is the fun part... start peeling the strips off and marvel at your masterpiece! ..
I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out! and it matches the master bedroom great!

I've been given the Leibster Award!

I'm so excited to have been given the Leibster Award! Thanks SarahNaptime Nothings for passing it along to me.

The Leibster Award is basically a supportive award that is given to new bloggers. I am a new blogger and I obviously need some blogging support, so hello, Leibster Award!! Haha!
I am also really excited because this award focuses on bloggers with 200 followers or less.
It is a great way for small blogs like mine to make new friends and
share their ideas.
So, lets get started!!

Rules:

1. Thank your Liebster Award presenter on your blog and link back to their blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions from the nominator, list 11 random facts about yourself and create 11 questions for your nominees.

3. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 11 blogs that has 200 followers or less whom you feel deserve to be noticed. Be sure to leave them a comment on their blog to let them know they have been chosen.

4. Copy and paste the blog award on to your blog. It is an award so show it off! Wink...Wink.

11 Questions....

1. When do you find the time to blog?
I don't really have a specific time of day that I devote to blogging.   I have gotten really lazy with blogging lately that I have worked on crafts, but just gotten lazy with taking progress pictures and actually getting them uploaded to the computer so I can edit them and have them for blogging.  I'm not even blaming the absence of blogging on spending my time taking care of a toddler or upkeeping with a home and being a wife.. Just plain LAZY lately.. bahahaaha..
I'll get back in the groove.. <3

2. IF you could be any animal, what would it be and why?
Hmm.. tough question.. Not something you ever really think about, but let's see... maybe a giraffe? .. I'm a short person so I'd choose to be a tall animal ;p

3. Describe what you feel when you see your favorite color?
I don't really know... just happy because it's my favorite color.  Is that a good answer?

4. What is your favorite television show?
As far as up-to-date shows, my favorites include: The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, and Top Gear.....
but I'm a sucker for re-runs of Friends, Reba, & According to Jim during the day.. Hey!, I'm a stay at home momma and I love having the tv on.. I love noise--

5. What one thing would you like your children to take into adulthood?
 Their faith.  Without knowing Jesus, life isn't worth living...

6. What does your family think of your blog?
They are pretty supportive.. They'll comment sometimes that they've seen a really cool craft I did and it just makes my day! .. I actually prolly wouldn't have a blog if it weren't for them telling me to start one :)

7. What would your dream vacation be?
I'd just be happy with a beach & hot weather & a cold drink in my hand.
I'm easy to please.

8. What is your favorite midnight snack?
 Really anything junk related.  I really need to work on just grabbing a piece of fruit.

9. What daily chore do you despise the most?
 Making my bed... I do it, it just takes me a couple hours after I wake up!

10. What advice would you give to a first time blogger?
You don't get a 100 followers overnight.  I still am not at 100 followers and I still get down, but you just gotta keep on keeping on.  I realize that just because you don't have a lot of followers it doesn't mean that nobody looks at your blog.. I have 87 followers and one of my posts alone has reached nearly 87,000 views.. THAT is a major confidence boost right there!  Do it because you enjoy it, not because you think you'll become famous from it or something wacky.

11. If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for?
At the moment...
1.  A healthy delivery for baby #2 (july)
2.  Long and healthy life for my family
3.  NO CANCER.. (wouldn't everyone agree!?!)

11 Random Facts About Me

1.  I'm the #1 paranoia in the world..
